An Escape

My head's pounding,

There's no relief,

I toss and turn,

Just searching for my release,

Of all pain or grief,

Physical,

Emotional,

Does it matter?

Pain is pain,

In the end anyways,

My dreams,

My thoughts,

They all torture me,

I can feel the pain,

In my sleep,

My time of peace,

Thrown away by a thief,

The thief that stole,

My sanity from me,

Ah yes,

This is my mind,

Searching for a simple break,

The ocean,

It's screaming my name,

Telling me to listen,

You people can escape,

You can run away,

I'm stuck,

I'm stranded in this place,

I love my home,

It's true,

I love you all too,

But there comes,

A time when I need,

To run away,

And have a break,

I crave to hear,

The ocean speak to me,

The seagulls cry and screech,

The waves...oh that water,

Just to feel it splash my feet,

My face,

I'd give so much,

I wanna laugh,

I ache to feel,

The sun-warmed sand,

Between my tired toes,

And worn hands...

The mountains,

I haven't seen in years,

The peaceful silence,

Has yet to touch,

These over-used ears,

The cool breeze,

If only it would,

Blow my way,

The scenery alone,

Will heal the weariest soul,

And any illness...disappears.

Now come my love,

You and I,

Let's leave this life,

Behind us as we run,

To these sweet places,

To feel the night,

And the amazing sun,

Will you take me there?

Where we can lie,

Trying to count the stars,

In the sky,

Building our sandcastles,

You'll be the king,

I'm forever your queen,

Doesn't matter who we will be...

Just look at where we are,

And...take me there.
